RE: How many tow with GM 6L gasser?

1) How much weight do you tow? 9000-10000 LBS 2) Do you tow mainly on flat ground or also over mountain passes? Mainly flat 3) If steep hills, is that engine adequate? I would want the 8.1 or Duramax for alot of steep hill towing. 4) What mileage do you get towing? 9-10 MPG doing 65 MPH 5) What mileage when not towing? 12-14

RE: Another tire question.

Two of my Ultra CRT's blew on the way to Myrtle Beach in May. They had approx 800 miles on them!!! Not overloaded, inflated to 65 PSI the night before the trip, traveling at 65 MPH!! Replaced all four of them in Brunswick, GA with 10 Ply Maxxis M8008's and no further problems. Carlise tires are JUNK!!

RE: Help me find some 5th wheel Toy Haulers about 30ft.

Thor Dutchman Wild Thing 28SGM5 is 29Ft 11in. Open floorplan no garage, no slides. Weight is approx 7800 empty. We pull ours with a 2500HD 6.0 gas and have had no problems.

RE: GM G80 Rear Differential Shutter

You are correct that no special additives are needed. I used Mobile 1 75-90 in mine also and have not experienced any problems. Just changed it at 70000 for the first time and the old lube did not look/smell all that bad. We don't tow as much as you though, approx 20000 of the 70000 miles on the truck. When you changed the lube was there alot/any metal or clutch material in the old lube?

RE: Tow Vehicle replacement tires

I went with the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's. Fairly quiet, good ride and seem to be wearing well.

RE: Fluid Change on 2003 2500HD ??

If you have the "G80" locking differential you must use synthetic lube. Just changed mine at 70000 miles. Used Mobile 1 75-90. My old lube did not look too bad, probably had 20000 of the 70000 towing our Toyhauler. Very easy process, open the drain plug on bottom front of differential, drain fluid, replace plug. Open top plug and add new fluid. Hope this helps.

RE: Will a 6.0 gas or V-10 gas tow 12k pounds?

My 2 cents. I am currently pulling a 30ft 10500 lb (loaded) Toy Hauler with a 2003 2500HD 6.0 gasser with 4:10 gearing. My experience is that I wish I had gone with the 8.1 or Diesel. On the interstate at 65 MPH it's not too bad. ANY little grade or hill and it struggles a bit. Last trip to Myrtle Beach I got an average 9.7 MPG and would probably gotten better with the 8.1 and definatly would have gotten better with a Diesel and chip. Again, just my opinion, stay with the setup you have.

RE: Deals Gap - Dragon RV camping

We stayed at Ironhorse in Stecoah back in 2005. Really nice place, great folks that run it. Kind of on the small side for big rigs but definatly do-able.

RE: battery

Mine runs through a resetable Bussman circuit breaker before going in to the converter. This blew on me several months ago and I went crazy until I figured it out. Follow your + wire from the battery and look for a circuit breaker. If it is the manual resetable type their will be a very small reset switch on top of the breaker that you must push in to reset. Hope this helps!

RE: Thor Products

Just recently purchased the Thor 28SG M5 30' Wild Thing 5'er and love it! 3 trips and only one minor problem so far, the 30 Amp main 12 volt relay between the Batteries and converter took a dump. Replaced it with a new one a no further problems. Quality seems to be very good. Hope this helps.

RE: Rubber Roof Bubbles

Several bubbbles on my new Thor Wild Thing. Dealer says no problem, causes by expansion/contraction of the membrane.
